Our owned social media channels are a powerful communication tool for us, playing a crucial role in helping us reach, engage, inform and support people affected by diabetes. That’s why we’re looking for a brilliant social media manager to develop our strategy and deliver maximum impact through our social media channels.

Interviews w/c 21 June 2021

Role Responsibility

Working within the Marketing & Communications division, this exciting role will be responsible for developing and delivering Diabetes UK’s organic social media strategy, as well as the day-to-day management of our social media calendar. Alongside this, an important part of the role will be proactively seeking opportunities for Diabetes UK to be ‘on the pulse’ and join wider, relevant conversations on social media.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in helping us to reach new audiences and deepen our relationship with existing supporters, in order to drive awareness, engagement and conversions for key products and services. They will also work closely with internal teams to embed the principles of good social media engagement across Diabetes UK.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be a marketing and communications expert, with significant experience developing and delivering social media channel strategies, ideally in a charity environment. They will have a good working knowledge of social media management platforms and social listening tools, be proficient in day-to-day social media content and community management, and confident identifying trending topics and opportunities for Diabetes UK to plug into wider conversations amongst our online communities.

They will be a skilled copywriter with experience of creating engaging social media content tailored to different audiences and channels, and be adept at building strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

About the Company

Diabetes is the most devastating and fastest growing health crisis of our time.  There are currently more than 3.9 million people in the UK diagnosed with diabetes, and just under 1 million more with undiagnosed type 2.

We are working to make sure that those affected by diabetes get the best care and support they need to live well with their condition and avoid life-changing complications.  We're leading the way by funding critical research, improving healthcare and treatment so we can reach our vision of a world where diabetes can do no harm.

Diabetes UK staff are motivated and experienced and extremely passionate about helping people affected by diabetes.  We have been fighting for people with diabetes for more than 80 years and changed millions of lives thanks to the new treatments, technology and policy changes we've been behind.

But there's more to do.  And you can be part of it.

We're a diverse bunch and as a charity we recognise and respect the value of everyone.

We've recently been awarded a One Star Accreditation status by Best Companies.  And this year we were named 65th in the top 100 not-for-profit organisations in the Sunday Times Best Companies to Work For list.

We're committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk and expect all staff and volunteers to actively support this commitment.

We have a vision of a world where diabetes can do no harm.  If you’d like to be part of that, why not join us?
