Sales and Sponsorship Manager

Job Introduction

Corporate new business at Diabetes UK has grown in recent years, and we now have a greater range of partners, supporting a wider range of work, than ever before. This new role replaces a role that sat in a different part of the Engagement and Fundraising Directorate, that was responsible for media sales and advertising revenue. The focus of this new role will be threefold: it will lead on generating advertising revenue from our various publications; it will package up and pitch to secure sponsorship for our sector leading events; and it will support wider corporate new business, deploying commercial acumen and expertise.

Role Responsibility

As the Sales and Sponsorship Manager, you will be responsible for helping Diabetes UK grow revenue associated with advertising and sponsorship. You will be our in-house expert, responsible for packaging up compelling packages and propositions for sales and sponsorship and taking these packages to market. You will manage a portfolio of existing partners, who regularly buy advertising in publications, and work with colleagues to grow your pipeline of prospective partners. You will work with the wider P&P team and organisation to equip and encourage colleagues to pitch advertising and sponsorship to their partners, growing associated revenue across the board. And as a valued member of the Corporate New Business team, with specialist commercial acumen and expertise, you will support on strategic partnership opportunities, helping us to win significant new business and achieve our organisational goals.

This role will require you to work with senior stakeholders to develop processes and propositions for sponsorship and advertising revenue. You will innovate existing approaches and offers, working closely with teams in marketing, operations, fundraising, finance, legal and services. You will be responsible for setting and achieving budgets, managing any associated spend. Sales and Sponsorship is a potential growth area for Diabetes UK and you will be ambitious, sales, and target driven. Your leadership qualities, fundraising expertise and relationship building skills will enable us to grow sales and sponsorship revenue and the non-financial value we derive from partnerships. With your help, we will be able to attract a range of new partners and funders to raise awareness of diabetes and enhance the health and wellbeing of millions of people across the UK. 

The Ideal Candidate

  • A sales and sponsorship specialist whose experience may have been gained in charity or commercial sector, B2B, company CSR dept. or any other environment involved in brokering and developing partnerships resulting in significant financial return.
  • Excellent relationship building skills, internally and externally
  • Strong presentation and pitching skills
  • Understanding of high value fundraising mechanisms, funding cycles and giving trends
  • Experience in budgeting, reporting and strategic planning
  • An innovative thinker, able to spot opportunities and drive change
