Philanthropy and Partnerships - Research and Operations Lead

Job Introduction

The Philanthropy and Partnerships team at Diabetes UK consists of 19 people, securing income and non-financial support from corporate partners, trusts and foundations and major donors. The Research and Operations Lead sits across the Philanthropy and Partnerships team. It is ultimately accountable for Research and Operations delivering excellent prospecting, applying sector insight to fundraising activity, developing stewardship assets and materials, and project managing key change programmes. It provides specialist expertise and leadership around data and databases, internal reporting, compliance and GDPR, and is expected to identify and address where our processes or approaches could be innovated and improved. This role is networked across the organisation, engaging stakeholders at all levels in support of team objectives and goals.

Role Responsibility

You will lead your team to deliver prospect research, stewardship activities, project management, internal reporting and innovate processes across the Philanthropy and Partnerships team. You will use your specialist knowledge and experience to ensure fundraising best practice and deploy data driven strategies to enhance team efficiency, impact and ROI. You will lead on key change programmes that fall within the remit of this role, representing us internally in relevant working and strategy groups. You will line manage the Stewardship and Events Officer and Research and Data Officer and work closely with the Business Development Manager to identify prospects and priority projects that the team can take to partners and donors. As a member of Philanthropy and Partnership’s Senior Management Team, you will play a key role in helping us achieve our ambitions for impact and growth.      

The Ideal Candidate

  • You will think strategically and manage and execute long term projects that can drive change
  • You will demonstrate excellent research skills and an in-depth knowledge of databases, GDPR, excel and fundraising compliance
  • You will have excellent people skills and be able to communicate complex information clearly and succinctly to a wide range of audiences
  • You will be analytical, outcome and delivery focused, with a track record of stakeholder stewardship and engagement
  • You will have experience of working in high value fundraising, stewardship best practice and strategic prospect research
