Physical Activity Project Coordinator
Job Introduction
Reporting to Physical Activity Programme Manager, the Project Co-ordinator will deliver the Diabetes UK Physical Activity Programme [a series of 10 weekly programmes] by being the first point of contact for all programme volunteers and participants. This requires the post holder to deliver an excellent level of customer service via email, phone and in person.
The Physical Activity Programme will operate seven days a week, including evenings and weekends and will depend on trained volunteers to support the safe and successful delivery of the programme.

Role Responsibility
- Be the first point of contact for all physical activity volunteers and manage general queries
- Build strong relationships with the helpline, volunteers and targeted local groups/communities/individuals
- Drive the implementation of the service plan to recruit new physical activity programme participants (relationship building and networking with local communities)
- Disseminate information required for participant to participate effectively and keep up-to-date with programme information
- Ensure all volunteers go through the agreed ‘volunteer journey’ including the sending out of all agreed communications
- Be aware of issues around the safeguarding of adults at risk, and follow guidelines at all times.
- Support the effective promotion, set-up and implementation of the Physical Activity Programme to prospective participants and volunteers.
- Be a team player and provide support to other members of the team as required
- Provide arms-length support to individuals and local groups after the initial 10 week programme
The Ideal Candidate
- Manage a dynamic workload with competing deadlines while remaining calm, focused and in control.
- Think ahead for recruiting new volunteers to lead the sustainability of the post-10 week programme
- Provide an excellent level of customer service to physical activity programme participants
- Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with a wide range of people
- Build friendly, respectful and effective relationships with volunteers on behalf of Diabetes UK
- Engaging with a diverse group of individuals e.g. Health Care Professionals, volunteers, people living with or affected by diabetes
- Managing multiple deadlines producing effective outcomes.
- Highly motivated, solution focused and resilient
- Highly organised and efficient with strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail
- Available for out of hours and weekend working
