Mass Participation Manager (FTC 12 months maternity cover - part time)

Job Introduction

The Mass Participation Manager is a pivotal role within our Engagement & Fundraising Directorate, responsible for creating and delivering incredible experiences across our virtual bespoke mass participation events. The postholder will have the opportunity to lead on large, flagship campaigns including the One Million Step Challenge and Swim22, as well as driving innovation on smaller, newer products within our pipeline. Working alongside a skilled team of Event Managers, this role will help Diabetes UK deliver an exciting and competitive portfolio of events, that disrupts the sector and generates sustainable income for the organisation.

Leading on several events within our mass participation portfolio, you will excellently execute events from concept to completion. As an experienced events fundraiser, you’ll focus on creating amazing experiences for our supporters, and building loyalty that lasts beyond their activity.

Working in a forward-thinking team you’ll work to improve our offer and stand out in an increasingly competitive events market. Embracing a test and learn approach, you’ll use insight, evaluation, and continuous optimisation to ensure all our engagement is audience centred. You will help grow our portfolio of events, working collaboratively across the organisation to launch new initiatives, activities and events that help us achieve our mission.

You’ll be able to demonstrate a track record of marketing and delivering successful events and creating amazing virtual experiences. As a solution-focussed person, you will use data and insight to drive your decisions, with a clear focus on optimising delivery at every opportunity.

As an established events professional, your organised nature will allow you to effectively manage multiple events and priorities in a fast-paced role. You will use your excellent project management skills to develop robust event plans, and effectively manage internal and external stakeholders to deliver them.

We are committed to providing an excellent supporter experience and you will bring a breadth of knowledge and ideas to help us create engaging experiences and build loyalty across our portfolio.

About the Company

For nearly 5 million people with diabetes in the UK, there’s no day off. At Diabetes UK, we fight day in, day out for better care, treatment and support. We won’t stop until diabetes can do no harm.

With more people than ever living with diabetes and millions more at risk of developing type 2, our work has never been more needed. We make sure they get the care and support needed to live well with diabetes and avoid devastating complications.

We fund critical research, which has led to life-changing discoveries – like the first insulin pen and programmes to put type 2 diabetes into remission. Now, we want to do this for everyone and find a cure.

We can’t do any of this without you. Our staff are passionate and determined about helping everyone affected by diabetes. For over 85 years, they’ve been behind vital policy changes, as well as new treatments and technologies to make living with diabetes easier every day.

But there’s more to do. And you can be part of it. Our vision is a world where diabetes can do no harm. Join us today, and together, we can make that a reality.
