Job Introduction

There’s never been a more important time to join Diabetes UK. With more people than ever needing our support, and an ambitious five-year strategy to deliver, our Strategic Marketing team is at the heart of delivering our bold plans. The Marketing Planning Executive will be crucial to setting us up for success in the new year, as we establish team and strategic outcome plans for the year ahead, and deliver a busy line-up of marketing and fundraising campaigns.

Interviews: w/c 14 December 2020

Role Responsibility

This critical three-month role will focus on supporting the Senior Marcomms Planning Manager to organise and align incoming team plans in line with our strategic outcome planning for the year. You’ll help manage our forward planning calendars, offer expertise and support to colleagues across the charity on planning and marketing, prioritise marketing support and resources, and work with teams to create marcomms briefs.

You’ll also work alongside the busy marketing campaigns team to support where needed on a range of varied and dynamic digital marketing activities planned for the first quarter of the year, from fundraising events, to influencing campaigns and our Diabetes UK Professional Conference.

The Ideal Candidate

This is a great short-term opportunity for someone with relevant experience in a marketing executive or marketing planning role, who can join us immediately in the New Year, and hit the ground running to support our friendly and busy Strategic Marketing team.

We’re looking for a confident, strategic thinker with experience in managing multiple projects at any given time. You’ll be incredibly organised, with the ability to bring clarity to our processes and thinking. You’ll be a confident communicator who is able to make sense of complex information and communicate it clearly to a range of audiences, and you’ll be adept at building strong working relationships. You’ll have a good knowledge of marketing and experience in developing marketing plans or campaigns. And your copywriting skills and attention to detail will help us create clear internal and external messaging.

You’ll be passionate about making a difference to the lives of people living with diabetes and those at risk of developing this devastating condition, and committed to helping us make faster progress towards reaching our vision.

If this sounds like you and you’re excited by the challenge, please don’t delay in applying.

About the Company

Diabetes is the most devastating and fastest growing health crisis of our time.  There are currently 3.8 million people in the UK diagnosed with diabetes, and 1 million more with undiagnosed Type 2.

We are working to make sure that those affected by diabetes get the best care and support they need to live well with their condition and avoid life-changing complications.  We're leading the way by funding critical research, improving healthcare and treatment so we can reach our vision of a world where diabetes can do no harm.

Diabetes UK staff are motivated and experienced and extremely passionate about helping people affected by diabetes.  We have been fighting for people with diabetes for more than 80 years and changed millions of lives thanks to the new treatments, technology and policy changes we've been behind.

But there's more to do.  And you can be part of it.

We're a diverse bunch and as a charity we recognise and respect the value of everyone.

We've recently been awarded a One Star Accreditation status by Best Companies.  And this year we were named 65th in the top 100 not-for-profit organisations in the Sunday Times Best Companies to Work For list.

We're committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk and expect all staff and volunteers to actively support this commitment.

We have a vision of a world where diabetes can do no harm.  If you’d like to be part of that, why not join us?
