Helpline Advisor – Physical Activity (Fixed Term contract 1 June 2021 – 31 May 2022)

Job Introduction

The Helpline Advisor – Physical Activity will need to provide a consistent, high quality information and support services for people who are participating in the Live Well, Move More Programme, in line with the policy and guidelines of the Diabetes UK Helpline to support people living with diabetes to be more active.

Role Responsibility

As the Help Line Advisor - Physical Activity you will encouraging and support individuals who are referred into the Live Well, Move More programme to do at least 30 minutes physical activity per week. The aim is to help them achieve long lasting lifestyle change by offering up to six 1:1 telephone sessions and using coaching and motivational behaviour change techniques to support sustainable change.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have experience in working on a health-related Helpline's, either in a voluntary or a paid capacity. In addition, experience in providing information, as well as emotional support, both verbally and in writing. The ideal candidate with be able to work with a high volume of enquiries and have the necessary computer skills (incl. Word, Excel and Outlook), with the ability and willingness to learn new procedures through training provided. Experience in using motivational behaviour change techniques to effect long term health behaviour change is desirable.
