Healthcare Engagement Officer
The Healthcare Engagement Officer plays a key role in improving and transforming diabetes care. They will be a core asset within the healthcare improvement team, by being that central point of contact that links external NHS professionals with the rest of the team as well as the wider organisation.
They will be informed by and influence the way in which health professionals deliver care to people with diabetes by knowing and understanding the challenges that professionals undergo in their daily practice, and communicating this back to the rest of the healthcare improvement team in order to collaboratively provide effective and practical solutions.
This will be done through the establishment of strong relationships, active engagement by various effective and innovative methods, the delivery of targeted and timely communications, and the establishment of strong training tools to up skill NHS staff in their Diabetes knowledge.

The post holder will be a core team player both internally and externally, acting as the main point of contact for communicating with a healthcare audience, ensuring appropriate and engaging messages are communicated effectively. Communication channels include our professional webpage, clinical network meetings, monthly e-newsletters and attendance at professional conferences.
They will take the time to understand the challenges and needs on the ground of a very varied professional audience, and provide and implement solutions by collaborative working with relevant partners according to those needs. Such solutions will include strong education and support services and products.
The post holder will play a strong part in strengthening the Diabetes UK brand name, raising awareness through our promotion as a reputable source of resources, toolkits and training.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, by being approachable, enthusiastic, and innovative in their method. They will be confident in talking to a variety of stakeholders at all levels, whilst being able to simultaneously manage a number of different projects, prioritising work load effectively both alone and as part of the healthcare improvement team and wider organisation.
The candidate will have a good understanding of the NHS and how changes are affecting healthcare professionals, building effective networks and professional relationships. They must be positive and driven with a can-do and solution-focused approach, clearly showing a passion for changing the lives of people with diabetes.
