Healthcare Engagement Manager - Northern Ireland

Job Introduction

At Diabetes UK it’s our mission to tackle diabetes, day in and day out, until it can do no harm. We want to continue to improve the quality and standards of diabetes care in Northern Ireland, so people get the care they need to live well and for longer.

As Healthcare Engagement Manager, you will have a genuine passion for, and substantial experience in, championing services and supporting healthcare professionals. Working closely with the National Director, you will play a vital role in developing relationships in the Health Service and focusing on delivery of outcomes with the Diabetes Network for NI to support improvements in diabetes care. 

The Healthcare Engagement Manager will be responsible for improving the lives of people with diabetes with particular emphasis on promoting improvements in diabetes prevention and care through engagement and collaboration with HCPs across NI and working closely with the National Director.

Role Responsibility

As Healthcare Engagement Manager within the Diabetes UK NI team, you will play a significant role in supporting improvements in diabetes care in line with Diabetes UK’s outcomes-led strategy and the Diabetes Strategic Framework. You will work in partnership with local healthcare professionals, and the Diabetes Network for NI, to bring about improvements in the prevention of diabetes and in the delivery of care. This will be influenced by the relationships you build with the local diabetes community, sharing their lived experience of this relentless condition, to better support their healthcare journey. You will be enthusiastic and resourceful in supporting people to live well with diabetes, developing and delivering activities in support of the charity’s priorities. Flexibility in working some evenings and weekends will be required. 

The Ideal Candidate

As Healthcare Engagement Manager for Northern Ireland, you will be confident in developing and maintaining excellent relationships and networking with a range of experts.  You will be skilled in gathering and analysing insights from a range of sources and identifying core issues, trends, and pressures, and you will thrive on identifying or creating solutions and support. 

As Healthcare Engagement Manager you will be passionate about facilitating, enabling, and encouraging the involvement of people with diabetes in our work, from a broad range of age groups, ethnicities, communities, and backgrounds, and you will understand the complexities around this.  You will feel comfortable with being challenged and challenging others. For this role, excellent organisation and communication skills are vital as are the ability to work as part of a team and to work independently.
