HR Services Manager (12 month fixed-term contract)

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

Job Introduction

The role of HR Services Manager has become available for a 12-month fixed term maternity contract.  As the HR Services Manager, you will be responsible for managing the HR services team which provides high quality and reliable HR administration, recruitment, payroll and advice as part of the People and Organisational Development directorate.

The HR Services team is the first point of contact for all colleagues and external job applicants so you’ll be responsible for ensuring all requests are responded to professionally and in a timely manner.  Payroll also sits within the HR Services team and so you’ll need to be hands-on and ready to cover this role too.

Interviews: 29 November 2021 (face to face at Wells Lawrence House, London)

Role Responsibility

You’ll be responsible for managing and developing the three members of the HR services team.  And you’ll play a key role in ensuring our HR processes and systems are up to date and fit for purpose to ensure we provide a high quality, professional and reliable service to all colleagues and job applicants.

You will track, allocate and manage requests that come into the HR Services team as well as answer requests yourself. You will support the team with more complex requests and work closely with our HR Business Partners (BPs) when requests need their support.  As the HR Services manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the payroll is processed accurately each month, providing cover where required.  You’ll also play a role in managing our employee benefits, liaising with account managers and making sure monthly returns and annual renewals are completed in good time. Finally, you are responsible for ensuring our HR systems (Tribepad and Cascade) and processes are efficient and reliable by listening to our key internal and external stakeholders.

The Ideal Candidate

You must be CIPD-qualified (level 3 or above) with a commitment to professional development which includes keeping up to date with employment law. You must also have experience of managing and running monthly payroll.

You will be able to manage multiple priorities, both for yourself and the HR Services Team, by giving clear direction to the team on how to manage their workload and conflicting priorities. You will maintain simple and concise processes and systems which support the people requirements of the charity, paying close attention to the needs of colleagues and job applicants.

You’ll also suggest improvements for how our systems and processes can be even better and confidently feed into monthly HR team meetings with your ideas and observations. You will be comfortable building effective relationships with our internal and external stakeholders to ensure our approach and processes fit our customer needs.

You must also be willing to get stuck into HR administration supporting the team when workload is high or if there are absences within the team.
