Conference Delivery & Sponsorship Manager

Job Introduction

At Diabetes UK we strive to create ‘A World Where Diabetes Can Do No Harm’.  We have an internal Conference Team that deliver a variety of annual educational conferences, including our prestigious annual flagship Diabetes UK Professional Conference (DUKPC).  This role would lead this award winning team to deliver conferences digitally and in person, including responsibility for sponsorship and exhibition acquisition.

Role Responsibility

Support and provide strategic direction to the Conference Team to operationally deliver and secure sponsorship for our portfolio of national in person and digital conferences, including our prestigious annual flagship DUKPC.  Support the development of the team and the service to improve skills, knowledge and working practices and develop the delegate experience and harness opportunities to add value from attendance.  Take overall responsibility for the conferences governance framework and ensuring that risk, GDPR, forward planning and strategic development have a strong focus across the team and that assurance mechanisms are utilised effectively to provide the Conference Steering Group with the information required to make decisions based on adequate data and information.

The Ideal Candidate

You will have well developed and proven experience in the delivery and the strategic development of high quality, large national conferences via digital and in person environments.  You will be adept at quickly building positive relationships with a wide range of colleagues across internal teams and with external suppliers and sponsors to ensure effective relationships are made and maintained to support seamless and efficient conference delivery and achievement of sponsorship targets.  It is essential that you have an innate ability to work confidently with and make sense of complex and sometimes ambiguous information and data, to make informed decisions or recommend strong remedial actions to minimise risks. It is essential that you understand ABPI/MedTech regulations to ensure that conferences are run compliantly in line with these.
